Quad9 Receives Support from Craig Newmark Philanthropies to Protect Against Cyber Threats

Quad9 is proud to announce that it is the recipient of a one-time grant from Craig Newmark Philanthropies to continue and further its work on improving the security and stability of the Internet through its DNS services. Quad9’s mission is and continues to be providing a stable, secure Internet that allows everyday people to be less vulnerable to cyber risks and more effective in their daily online interactions.

“We all need protective DNS to help protect ourselves, our families, our homes, and our country. Quad9 is a real part of our defenses, and using it should be considered by everyone; it's real progress toward #CyberCivilDefense” -  Craig Newmark, pausetake9.org.

“We're honored and inspired by our inclusion in the roster of Craig Newmark Philanthropies grant recipients. This gives us a whole new set of allies in our mutual goal of making the Internet a safer and more trustworthy experience - we look forward to the challenges this will help us resolve and the good this will bring to end users.” - John Todd, Quad9 General Manager.

This contribution from Craig Newmark Philanthropies allows us to both upgrade existing infrastructure in the United States as well as address the continuously growing demand for privacy and security-focussed DNS resolving by setting up new points of presence.

About Craig Newmark Philanthropies

Craig Newmark is a Web pioneer best known for creating craigslist, which he stepped away from running day-to-day two decades ago. Craig’s full-time philanthropic work focuses on supporting organizations protecting America’s security and democracy. He has given more than $300 million in support of veterans and military families, trustworthy journalism and civic engagement campaigns, cyber security education programs, hunger relief, and pigeon rescue. Craig was influenced by his Sunday School teachers who escaped the Holocaust, set his moral compass, and taught him to treat people like you want to be treated – and how to know when enough is enough. He's not as funny as he thinks he is.
